This is a re-post from a week or two back, it really annoyed me that it didn’t go up on the main page so I thought I’d try posting it again:
On Tuesday 6th May, my sister Nebsy and I both won one of the heats of Poetry Idol, and now we’ll be in the final […]
I wrote this one on Sunday night and performed it at Poetry Idol on Tuesday. No luck winning yet this year, but it’s always good (if terrifying) fun.
You Should Visit Sometime
In that moment, you toppled regimes.
In one instant, you overthrew dictatorships,
Undermined governments,
And lysed terrorist cells.
Memories grow like vines before they happen.
Visions of places I’ve never […]
Joy, oh, jolly joy! I’m now a published poet!
After making it into the top 10 of a Poetry Idol event, they published my poem Thirst in the Paradise Anthology (which is strange because everyone I know who’s read Thirst didn’t like it, and I thought the other, better poem I performed (Ceiling) would have […]
No Pulse
You told me I should be ashamed
Caught in your headlights,
I believed
You said the light and love I’d given
I had lost,
So I should grieve.
You said I could be right and pure
If I scrub harder,
I’ll come clean
And I could be recalibrated
And run smooth,
Like a machine.
Then ancient ages, teenage phases
Went through my veins
Like blades of razors
Those yellow […]
… But once again, my post didn’t appear on the main Nook page. Only on my Nook, and thus no one knows about my good news.
Hooray for Nook’s spring clean. *sarcasm*
Anyway! All whining aside… have a read of my post: Poetry Idol - Success!

I performed 2 short poems, “Ceiling” and “Thirst”, Nick did a funny, punchy poem called “A Disclaimer”, Nebs did what I think is her best poem, “getting Got”, […]
Carcinema
The words I whisper constantly
Echo louder as screams
They follow me in the daylight
And haunt me at night in dreams
I dream when my eyes are open
And as I smile and laugh and speak
I dream as I listen to you
My weakness makes me weak
Angels alight in my peripheral
But they never meet my eyes
Do you know how lonely […]
Ahhh, a week away does wonders. My family goes up to Kyneton every year for a week of relaxing. It’s a lovely town, complete with the Country Cob bakery - the best bakery of all time. We did heaps of bushwalking, eating, drinking, swimming, shopping and we went to Bendigo for a day.
We went on […]
A knight to paint the marble walls
Run screaming down the cold stone halls
To break the windows, light the lamps
Spell out his name in postage stamps
A knight to laugh, a knight to sing
A plotting wretch, a kindly king
Beyond all optimistic lies
This knight now sparkles in your eyes
A knight to melt the snow capped peaks
To bring weekends […]
On the mid-year holidays I visited Kew Cemetery for a photo expedition thanks to a tip-off from Winnierose that it had a really cool memorial there… and I was not disappointed!
A pleasant walk (or tram trip) from Glenferrie station, Kew Cemetery (otherwise known as Boroondara General Cemetery or Peace Haven) is a beautiful place, tranquil, […]
